About us...

Welcome to Feathers and Fluff Website...for all your boutique chook breeds

 

Feathers and Fluff is a family run chicken and duck breeding business based on a farm outside the town of Goondiwindi, Queensland. All our animals have the run of the gardens and are fed on a mixture of farm grown grain, grass, fruit and vegetables.

 

All of our animals for sale come vaccinated with Poulvac® HVT CF to prevent against Gallid herpesvirus 2: A common herpes virus infection in chickens (commonly known as Marek’s Disease).  If you have any questions regarding Marek’s or our vaccination program please drop us an email via our contact page.

Chickens:

 

Silver-Spangled Hamburg:

Hamburgs are a small light breed of chickens and very reliable layers of small/medium white eggs. They are very elegant looking white polka dotted chickens with the males sporting large flowing tails and rose combs. For photos please see our gallery page.

 

Golden-Spangled Hamburg:

A variation of the Silver-Spangled Hamburg; Golden-Spangled Hamburg have a golden-brown feather with a black polka dots. For photos please see our gallery page.

 

Silver-Laced Wyandottes:

Wyandottes are a favourite amongst backyard flock owners for their laid-back nature and their dual-purpose. Wyandotte’s are dependable layers of large brown eggs and have been bred large for their meat. The name Silver-Laced comes from the feathers appearance: a silvery-white feather with a black ring. Golden-Laced Wyandottes:

A variation of the Silver-laced Wyandotte; Golden-Laced Wyandottes have a golden-brown feather with a black ring. For photos please see our gallery page.

 

Columbian Wyandottes:

Another variation the Columbian Wyandotte is white with black speckling around the neck. Columbians are slightly larger than their Silver and Golden-Laced counterparts. For photos please see our gallery page.

 

White Wyandottes:

These Wyandottes have the recessive gene that gives them a pure white colour, they are bred on our property by crossing Columbian Wyandottes. For Photos please see our gallery page.  

 

Dorkings:

Dorkings are one of the oldest breeds of chickens originating from Italy. Pure breed Dorkings have five toes unlike most chickens and are very docile creatures.  There are good for both eggs and meat. For photos please see our gallery page.

 

Coronation Sussex: OUT OF STOCK

The Coronation Sussex orientated from England where it was breed for King George hence its name. They are large, very friendly, dual purpose birds which lay large brown eggs.  This variety of Sussex is white in colour with an iliac neck, tail and wing tips. Lavender Araucana (American):

The Araucana is a breed of chicken that originates in Chile, the most distinguishing characteristics of this breed is that they are one of three Chickens worldwide that lay BLUE shelled eggs! (Don’t fret the yolks are still yellow.) For images of egg colour please see our services page. Araucana are small chickens with a pea comb, a beard, and muffs. Barnevelder:

The Barnevelder is a Dutch breed named after the town of Barneveld. They are a medium, docile bird with gold laced and iridescent green feathers.  Although they are slow to mature they are good layers of large dark eggs as can be seen on our services page. Ducks:

 

Welsh Harlequin:

This Welsh breed of ducks originated in 1949 when they were selectively breed for their colour. The Welsh Harlequin (pictured below) is a light weight and social duck with fantastic egg laying capabilities. The females are light brown with a darker head and neck while the drakes have a dark green head, neck and wing tips. Aylesbury:

This popular breed of English duck is mainly breed for their meat and pure white appearance. Very large and friendly they make a great addition to any farm. For photos please see our photo gallery.

 

Cayuga: Not for Show

The Cayuga duck has been a popular breed in America since it was first breed in the 1800’s. They are a medium-class duck breed both for their eggs and meat and are iridescent green in colour. Although our ducks are beautiful they do have a white feather or two and so are not show quality.  For photos please see our photo gallery.
